What is PILATES ?
Pilates is a system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the entire body. It is a balanced mix of strength and flexibility training that improves posture, reduces stress and creates long, lean muscles without bulking up. Pilates works several muscle groups simultaneously through smooth, continuous movements, with a focus on strengthening and stabilizing the core (the abdominals, buttocks and back muscles often described by Joseph Pilates as the "powerhouse"). Pilates concentrates on quality of movement rather than quantity, leaving you feeling invigorated rather than exhausted after a class. Pilates principles can be applied to any daily activities allowing the body function more efficiently. Is it suitable for any ages ?
